On February 3rd it was announced that voice actor Mark Dodson had passed away at 64 years old. His passing was announced through a statement that was put out by his talent agent Stellar Appearances on Facebook. According to TMZ Mark was in Indiana attending Horror Con. Mark “suffered massive heart attack” in his sleep, passing away on March 2, 2024. Here is a little bit of the statement that Stellar Appearances put out regarding Mark’s passing:
Mark truly loved his fans and enjoyed meeting them at conventions around the world. Mark was honored to be inducted into dozens of the local chapters of the Star Wars 501st Legions over the past several decades. Mark leaves behind a wonderful family, close friends, and adoring fans around the world. The family asks for privacy during this difficult time.
Mark Dodson’s work spans from movies to games, commercials, radio, producing and so much more. He did movies such as Gremlins, and Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi. In the movie Star Wars: Return Of The Jedi he voiced the character Salacious Crumb in 1983 and in Gremlins which came out in 1984 Mark voiced the character of Mogwai.
In the gaming industry, Mark worked on many games such as Gostrunner, Grim Dawn games, Anamoly 2, Nancy Drew games, and PainKiller: Hell & Animation. In the Ghost Runner games, Mark voiced the character of Adam Hamada and in the Grim Dawn games, he voiced the character of Barnabas. Mark also voiced the character Nathan Arch in the game Bendy& The Dark Revival which came out in 2022.
Mark Dodson leaves behind his daughter Ciara and grandchildren. When talking to TMZ his daughter Ciara had this to say about her father: “he never ceased making me proud”,” and his legacy will live on through his grandchildren and her”.
