V1 Interactive Announces Their First Game: Disintegration

V1 Interactive, an indie development studio co-founded by Halo co-creator and former Bungie creative director Marcus Lehto, has announced its first project: Disintegration, which is a sci-fi first-person shooter. They released a teaser to share the news earlier today, which you can see below.

Disintegration will have a “full reveal” at Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. It will be part of the Opening Night Live event on August 19, which will be hosted by Geoff Keighley. Not much is known about the game yet beyond a basic genre description, so it’s unclear what the exact premise of Disintegration will be, or even what systems it will be available on. The teaser and key art released thus far focus on some sort of gigantic weapon, which doesn’t provide much context for the game.

Take-Two Interactive’s indie label, Private Division, will publish Disintegration, after they first announced their partnership with V1 Interactive in December 2017. Private Division is also set to publish Obsidian’s The Outer Worlds and Assassin’s Creed creator Patrice Désilets’ Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey.

V1 Interactive was first founded in 2014 following Lehto’s 15 years at Bungie. There, he worked on Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo: Reach. Creating V1 Interactive was “exhilarating,” according to Lehto, as he expressed his excitement to “share what this amazing team has been working on…this new game that [their] team is building.”

With the release of the teaser, the V1 Team also released a statement on their website, expressing their collective excitement to share Disintegration with the world, though they’re still feeling some pressure. “You probably want to know more…Making games is hard,” the statement read. “There’s lots more to come, but hopefully this will slake some of the thirst.”

Disintegration is currently slated to launch at some point in 2020, though no specific release date has been announced as of yet.
