V Rising Amasses 500,000 Steam Players in its First Week of Early Access

Stunlock Studios’ V Rising has reached 500,000 players on Steam after just four days in early access, according to tweet made by the official V Rising Twitter account on Friday. Having just released on Tuesday, the game currently sits at the number one spot on Steam’s “Top Sellers” list above titles like Elden Ring, and its store page boasts a score of “Very Positive” across nearly 7,000 player reviews.

Just hours after this tweet, the page announced that V Rising had just broken yet another important record: 100,000 concurrent players online, a number that placed the game among Steam’s top 10 most-played games for the day.

V Rising is a game that is best described a vampire simulator. The game is an action-RPG akin to Grim Dawn, but features gameplay elements of open-world exploration, survival, and PvP interaction. Players take control of a newly arisen vampire who seeks to regain their lost power by feeding on humans, converting them into vampiric subjects, and using them to construct a terrifying castle. Along the way, the player must avoid sunlight, fend off holy soldiers, and compete against – or work together with – other players.

In the days since its initial launch, players have compared the new title to other survival co-op games like Rust, Ark: Survival Evolved, and Valheim. While many reviews of the game find it to be well-designed and addictive, some have encountered issues with its servers or find the lack of offline play to be irritating.

V Rising is currently available for $20 exclusively on Steam and already offers two DLC packages, one of which costs a whopping $35 on top of the base game.
