Upcoming Action RPG GreedFall Gets Launch and Gameplay Overview Trailers

A couple of trailers were released recently for the upcoming action RPG, GreedFall. The game is in development by Spiders and published by Focus Home Interactive, and will be released on September 10. The new trailers give a better glimpse into the motivations of the different characters, be it the invading settlers or the natives of the land that wish them gone. Oh, and did I mention the monsters?

The launch trailer, which you can check out above, paints a picture of an epic world that players will inhabit in the game. At first glance, it seems like the traditional story of colonizers sailing across vast oceans in search of new land to claim as their own, and the native people who have a rightful claim to that land opposing them. What sets the game apart is the giant and ferocious monsters that also inhabit the land, and by the looks of it, they’re not too happy about the newcomers either.

The game will have all the elements of the classic RPG, including the ability to customize your character, skillset, and even party members. Players will be able to interact with characters on the island of Teer Fradee, who will be part of different factions. Throughout the journey, these characters can be befriended and invited along with the player. Each will have different personalities, morals, and desires based on the faction they are a part of. How you play the game is completely up to you, but keep in mind that your party members may not always agree with your choices, and could turn on you because of them.

Just like any good RPG, player characters have a customizable skillset, broken into three classes: Warrior, Technical, and Magic. Along the way, you can further expand on each, with the ability to mix and match skills to suit the playstyle you wish to take on. Depending on your choices, new options will open up within the situations you encounter, allowing you to fight or talk your way out of a pickle, for example. Combat type is also up to you; you can utilize heavy two-handed weapons, light swords, or simply stand back and let your magic do the work for you. Whatever you choose, you can momentarily freeze time with the Tactical Pause option, which will allow you to better assess the situation and choose your actions without the stress of the enemy barreling down on you. You can check out the full gameplay overview trailer below for more information on the game.

GreedFall will launch on September 10 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
