Under The Waves Announced at Gamescom Opening Night

Under The Waves was revealed at Gamescom opening night. This game will be developed by Parallel Studio and published by Quantic Dream which is best known for Beyond Two Souls, Heavy Rain, Detroit Become Human, and more.

This new game will be a single-player narrative-driven adventure game that is set in the North sea in the 1970s. There will be 21 supported languages. All the languages will have interface and subtitles but only English, French, and German will have audio.  Under The Waves is about

professional diver Stan is struggling to overcome a life-changing loss and embrace a new future. The isolation of the deep sea is a fitting manifestation of his state of mind, and as Stan retreads further into his self-imposed solitude, he starts to experience strange events far beneath the waves. He will eventually have to make a difficult choice… stay lost in the depths forever, or break free to the surface and to the rest of his life.

Players can dive underwater to experience the”cinematic visuals and poignant storytelling”.  Stan will go deep into the abyss which will lead to him reflecting on his own psyche. Wander around the different seabeds and meet the wildlife, players can also explore caves, wrecks, and plants. Stan’s memories will have mysteries that will help the player find a way back to the surface.

Players will be able to collect materials and make their own equipment by crafting them. Under The Waves, players will experience tragic memories that will reveal more about Stan.

Under The Waves will be coming out in 2023 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox series X|S, Xbox One, and Steam.
