According to a report with translated information from Gematsu, Capcom will be presenting at least one as-yet unannounced title at Jump Festa 2020, an expo event with a focus on anime and manga that also showcases upcoming game trailers and playable demos. Jump Festa 2020 will run from December 21st through 22nd, 2019, at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan.
So far, Capcom has officially confirmed that two of the titles Jump Festa attendees will be able to play are Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and the upcoming Megaman Zero/ ZX Legacy Collection. According to the information shared by Gematsu, there are two more titles that Capcom may debut during the event. There’s lot of speculation about what Capcom could debut in late December, but there are some strong possibilities.
Recent rumors have been circling concerning the development of a remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. An announcement and even playable demo is possible, as sources indicate the game is gearing up for a 2020 release and is being developed alongside the asymmetric multiplayer spinoff title Project Resistance. Capcom has stated that they could develop remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis for current-generation consoles depending on the success of Resident Evil 2 Remake, which since its release in January of this year has sold over 4 million units and was named Ultimate Game of the Year by the Golden Joystick Awards. Resident Evil 2: Remake is also nominated for The Game Award’s Game of the Year.
Another potential candidate for a debut is a reboot of the Okami series. Recently Okami‘s original Director Hideki Kamiya and former Ghostwire Tokyo Creative Director Ikumi Nakamura posted to Twitter that they were interested in reviving the game. The possibility of this project being greenly by Capcom is supported by their recent interest in “awaken[ing] dormant IPs,” according to Capcom’s most recent financial report.
There are other less galvanizing possibilities as well, like a playable demo of Devil May Cry 3‘s upcoming Switch port or an update on the next Ace Attorney game. As far as Capcom’s fighting games go, Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono has confirmed that Capcom is not working on Street Fighter VI and will be working on content for Street Fighter V for the long haul. It’s also likely that Capcom would save any big news for it fighting games division for Capcom Cup 2019, the finale of the Street Fighter V Pro Tour, which will be held on December 13th through 15th and feature hosting by Kenny Omega.
