Ubisoft Forward 2023: Assassin’s Creed, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Star Wars: Outlaws, & More

Today, Ubisoft made a wave of announcements during their Ubisoft Forward livestream. During the event, they announced some new projects while showcasing gameplay for their highly anticipated releases. Here’s everything that was revealed during Ubisoft Forward 2023.

First, Just Dance 2024 was announced. The game will feature new hit songs like”How You Like That” by BLACKPINK, “Flowers” by Miley Cyrus, “Tití Me Preguntó” by Bad Bunny, and many others. It will launch on October 24th for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Next, Massive Entertainment officially announced Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, which is based on James Cameron’s Avatar films. The feature also included statement from Cameron himself and a follow-up game overview trailer. It will launch on December 7th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Amazon Luna, and PC through Ubisoft Connect.

Ubisoft’s PVP shooter XDefiant was confirmed to launch this summer. An Open Session for players on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S will be held on June 21st to 23rd.

Ubisoft released a commented gameplay walkthrough for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. The game mechanics will be built on combat, exploration, and platforming, all tied together with quick, responsive, and precise controls. It will launch on January 18th, 2024 for all modern platforms.

A new, anime-inspired series called Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix was announced during Ubisoft Forward. Set in a dystopian, cyberpunk version of 1992, the series will be an early ’90s homage packed with Easter eggs and remixed versions of Ubisoft characters. It will premiere exclusively on Netflix this fall.

Ubisoft showcased Tom Clancy’s The Division: Resurgence, a free-to-play RPG mobile shooter. The Division Resurgence is an urban open-world game that aims to bring a true The Division experience to handheld devices. The game will explore what happened in New York City after the events of The Division. It’s slated to launch this fall for iOS and Android devices.

Ubisoft announced that Skull and Bones is hosting a Closed Beta on August 25th for PC. Registrations are currently open for those who want to play the game ahead of release.

Ubisoft premiered gameplay for racing game The Crew Motorfest. Players will have the opportunity to drive a diverse fleet of vehicles across a variety of beautiful settings. It will launch on September 14th for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.

Blue Mammoth Games announced that Brawlhalla‘s next Epic Crossover will be with Halo, dubbed Brawlhalla: Combat Evolved. Players will be able to play as Master Chief, Epic Crossover for Isaiah, and the Arbiter, Epic Crossover for Sidra. Both characters will be coming to Brawlhalla on July 12th.

Ubisoft made a few announcements centered around the Assassin’s Creed franchise. The first announcement was Assassin’s Creed Nexus VRPlayers can embody Assassin’s Creed heroes like Ezio Auditore da Firenze, Kassandra, and Connor (aka Ratonhnhaké:ton) – and immerse themselves in the Italian Renaissance, Ancient Greece, and the American Revolution eras. Nexus will launch this holiday season for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, and Meta Quest 3.

Ubisoft also announced an open-world mobile game called Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade. Set between Odyssey and Origins, players will explore Qin Dynasty China, which is considered China’s first empire. Players can customize their assassin through the Animus and embark on a new adventure filled with Assassin’s Creed’s iconic historical intrigue, assassinations, stealth, and parkour mechanics.

The final Assassin’s Creed feature was a gameplay walkthrough for upcoming mainline title Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Set in ninth-century Baghdad, the game will follow a younger Basim (from Valhalla) who begins the journey to become a master assassin. As an homage to the first Assassin’s Creed, Mirage emphasizes stealth gameplay with classic tools like throwing knives and smoke bombs, along with new abilities like Assassin’s Focus, which lets Basim take down multiple targets in rapid succession. It will launch on October 12th for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Finally, Massive Entertainment revealed gameplay for Star Wars: Outlaws, the first-ever Star Wars open-world game. The footage highlights protagonist Kay Voss using stealth and blaster combat on high risk, high reward mission.
