Ubisoft Announces Partnership Between Watch Dogs: Legion and HITRECORD

Ubisoft has announced another partnership with HITRECORD. The first partnership was announced with Beyond Good & Evil 2 at E3 2018. HITRECORD is an online collaborative media platform founded and owned by actor and director Joseph Gordon-Levitt. In the announcement of the partnership, Ubisoft said: “From the very beginning, we have always wanted to include our fans and the community in the making of our game. Thanks to our partnership with HITRECORD, our talented Watch Dogs fans and the HITRECORD community have the opportunity to participate together in the creation of the musical landscape for our open-world version of London. Whether you’re musical composer, writer, singer, player, or someone with big ideas and a lot of passion… we are super excited to hear your music composition. You can get started right away! Click below and begin collaborating with other HITRECORD and Watch Dogs musicians, players, as well as fans from all around the world on the Watch Dogs: Legion Production Page. MAKE YOUR MARK!”

The goal for the new partnership is to create 10 original songs that will get integrated into the game. Players will experience these tracks as they explore the world of Watch Dogs: Legion. Credit will be given to those who contributed to a song that made it into the game. Contributors will also get paid a percentage of $2,000 that is based on the impact they had on a song. Not everyone was excited and happy about the announcement of the partnership. Ubisoft has since released a statement on Twitter:

The issue that many have is the idea that they may be wasting their time and energy into work that won’t amount to getting paid, but as Ubisoft stresses, this is voluntary. Watch Dogs: Legion releases on March 6, 2020, for the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Google Stadia.
