Two League of Legends Support Champion Launches You Can’t Miss

Yesterday, Riot announced the latest League of Legends champion named Bard, the Wandering Caretaker. Today, DJ Sona takes center stage to steal the show.

First, let’s highlight Bard. Bard is the first roaming utility support to hit the Rift since Alistar was nerfed. He also looks like a character from a Hayao Miyazaki film (e.g., Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away), so that’s pretty cool too. More importantly, his abilities appear to include everything a support player could ever hope to offer their team: slows, stuns, heals, movement, and even a Zhonya’s-esque ulti. Right now, his strongest counter-pick seems to be Rek’Sai.

Bard is League’s first support to gain advantages solely from moving around Summoner’s Rift. By constantly collecting his unique chimes, he covers plenty of ground at all stages of a game, and offers his team both solid sustain with his health packs and unrivalled team mobility with his long range portals.

For more information on the champion reveal, you can read in detail about Bard’s abilities, laning strategy, and team comp synergy at the League of Legends web site.

Now on to Sona, the first support champion I ever played. The DJ Sona Ultimate Skin is the most dynamic that Riot has tabled so far, boasting three epic tracks that not only transform the look and feel of Sona’s outfit and abilities, but can also be shared with your team in-game. The new skin features a musical collaboration by Riot Games, Nosaj Thing, Pretty Lights, The Crystal Method, Dada Life, Bassnectar and Renholdër.

Drop the beat in League of Legends with high-energy Kinetic beats, hard-hitting Concussive rhythms and atmospheric Ethereal vibes.

Akin to the other Ultimate Skins for Ezreal and Udyr, Sona’s will cost you a pretty penny – actually, around a little more than $20 USD. However, you can get the DJ Sona Ultimate Skin for around 25% off, or 2450 RP instead of 3250 RP, between now and March 1.

While most League players like myself are stoked to see so much love for the support role two days in a row, their wallets are probably saying “Rito, pls” right about now…Oh well, here’s some eye and ear candy.
