On Turtle Rock Studios’ official websiteThe Well is described as “an immersive fantasy RPG,” and features unique art and visuals. In the announcement trailer, some of these visuals are displayed through showcasing environments in the world of Tholl that players will explore. Players fight as a druid, mage, rogue, or warrior and recruit other allies to fight with them during battles on their journey.

In a press release posted by Gamasutra, President of Turtle Rock Studios Steve Goldstein states,

“The Well is not only our most ambitious VR title to date, it is our most unique…we’re excited to create a new, original fantasy world unlike anything we’ve seen before, and it’s specifically crafted for the Gear VR platform. It’s not just a fun game, it’s beautiful. Gear VR is a medium that allows us to push the creative envelope and bring to life games we never thought possible.”

The Oculus Gear VR is a Samsung product that allows smartphone users to watch videos, share content, and play many different mobile games alone and with friends. The headset allows users to view their content and can be paired with a single-hand controller or classic gamepad to play games. The mobile nature of the Gear VR may ultimately appeal to users who want to play VR games outside of their own home where they may otherwise have to use VR products connected to consoles.

The Well will be released October 11 2017 for Gear VR at $9.99.
