Treyarch Confirms Call of Duty in 2015

Yesterday, Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg announced the outlook for the Call of Duty franchise in the upcoming year and Treyarch tweeted confirmation for the development of the next-in-series installment.

Now that the Call of Duty franchise has three main developers, each new COD game will be developed on a three-year cycle between Sledgehammer Games (Advanced Warfare), Treyarch (Black Ops), and Infinity Ward (Ghosts). The Activision executive hinted at what’s in store, “This fall’s game will be Treyarch’s first on the 3-year development cycle, it will be loaded with innovation and we’re excited to share more details with our community soon” (via Seeking Alpha).

Treyarch has their work cut out for themselves according to the success evidenced by Sledgehammer’s Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and its recently released Havoc DLC pack. However, Hirshberg seems to have high hopes for whatever Treyarch is cooking up:

“While we’re not yet ready to discuss it fully today, we’re excited to announce that it will be made by the team at Treyarch, whose last 2 games, Black Ops and Black Ops II, remain the biggest selling titles in franchise history” (via Seeking Alpha).

I for one have always returned to playing Black Ops and Black Ops II when I have an itch for some COD team deathmatch or battling waves of zombie hordes. I’m a fan of Party game modes (e.g., Gun Game and Sticks and Stones) as well as the mix of classic Zombies maps (e.g., Kino Der Toten and Die Rise) and specialized modes like Alcatraz or Buried. So I too, have faith in Treyarch to crank out another awesome experience. Perhaps they’ll pioneer something completely new or make a nostalgic return to the classic Call of Duty rooted in World War II themes. Whatever the case, we’ll just have to sit tight and wait.

Which Call of Duty appeals to you and what do you hope to see carried over in the upcoming release?

But the real question is, what innovation can Treyarch scheme to “Pack-a-Punch” the already wildly successful, ever-evolving Zombies mode?
