Transformers RTS Game coming to Mobile

It was announced by Hasbro today that a new Transformers Real-Time-Strategy Game called Transformers: Earth Wars will be released ios and android devices, as well as Google Play and the Apple App Store.  The studio developing the new title is Space Ape Games, creators of the well-received mobile RTS game Rival Kingdoms.  In the game, players can lead the Autobots as Optimus Prime or command the Decepticons as Megatron.  Bumblebee and Starscream are also playable characters, and the trailers might indicate that fan-favorite Grimlock can also be playable.

Though the trailer is mostly a pre-rendered cinematic, there is a small glimpse of the gameplay at the end of the trailer.  Players will have to protect their base from the enemy faction to build up their supply of Energon.  There seem to be some similarities between this game and other popular mobile RTS games like Clash of Clans.  Much like those games, Transformers: Earth Wars will be free to download, but will have in-app purchases.

Fans of the original series will also be glad to know that Peter Cullen and Frank Welker will return to voice Optimus Prime and Megatron.  Transformers: Earth Wars looks to be very faithful to the 80s cartoon, much like the excellent Transformers: Devestation.  You can take Transformers with you on the go when the game releases sometime this spring.
