Top Selling Games in the U.S. For June 2016

According to Gamespot, the top ten best selling games have been released via monthly sales reports. The top three games of June are Overwatch, Grand Theft Auto V, and Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens. These titles continue to lead the way, as gamers flock to their gameplay. The list ranks games according to their dollar sales as opposed to units sold, as it was in the past. It is also the first time that sales encompass both digital and physical copies across all platforms.

Finishing off the top five are Bethesda’s Doom and DICE’s Mirror’s Edge Catalyst. Leggo Star Wars and Mirror’s Edge are the only games that actually came out in June. Looking toward Lego Star Wars, its presence in the top five is more than impressive, as it was released June 28th.

It is important to note that the earnings of June 2016 didn’t beat that of the games that were released in June 2015. The overall drop it sales was 20% from $879 million to $652 million this year. Check out the rest of the top ten below:

  1. Overwatch
  2. Grand Theft Auto V
  3. Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens
  4. Doom
  5. Mirror’s Edge Catalyst
  6. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
  7. NBA 2K16
  8. Call of Duty: Black Ops III
  9. Destiny: The Taken King
  10. Minecraft

While numbers were down by 20% June still offered strong numbers considering the lack of new releases in the month. The total in millions is represented mostly by games that have been already in stores for over 3 months, this alludes to the fact that games are still making more and more money. This year is still on pace to be another huge year for the industry.

Happy Gaming.
