As Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 is receiving wide praise and attention for being a good remastered version of the original games, they have now set a new franchise record in sales. The game has been widely appreciated by critics and players alike for recapturing the feeling of the classic games, along with being able to keep it fresh with new trick elements and environments. As Hawk himself has been acting as a brand ambassador for th4e game, it has also featured popular faces (such as Jack Black) as playable characters.
Tony Hawk himself had said that the future of his skateboarding game depended on how the release of this title did in sales and in a recent tweet by Activision Blizzard, the company has boasted that the game is now the fastest game to reach one million sales in franchise history. While they don’t mention exactly how fast this game reached this number, it has only been out for less than a month at this point.

Developed by Vicarious Visions (who also developed 2017’s version of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy)and announced in May, the game developers had bragged in multiple trailers that the game was made using old codes from the previous titles. As of now, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 can now join titles such as Animal Crossing: New Horizons, The Last of Us Part II, and Fall Guys the top games to play during quarantine and social distancing.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 was released on August 14th, 2020, and is currently playable on PlayStation 4. There is no news so far if the game will be adapted to the upcoming PlayStation 5, but with the rumored backward compatibility of the two consoles, it looks like fans will still be able to enjoy the game on the newest upcoming console.
