Just today, developer and publisher Onibi, a newly found studio, released an announcement trailer for their debut game Tomo: Endless Blue. There has yet to be a planned release date, but the game will be available on PC through Steam.
Tomo: Endless Blue is an anime style action-RPG game set in an ocean realm that is inhabited by mysterious creatures. The trailer shows the two characters as well as one of the mysterious creatures, known as Tomo. The two characters are suddenly sucked into an ocean realm and will have to find their way out of it.
According to an article from Gematsu, Onibi CEO Benjamin Devienne said this at a press release, ““Each island in the Endless Blue is a self-contained world, shaped by unique traditions, Tomo, and beliefs. As players explore these islands, we hope they’ll enjoy being challenged by how these civilizations view the same world through vastly different lenses.”
Here is more to the story that Onibi wants to tell with Tomo: Endless Blue, “When worlds end, fragments of their civilizations become islands adrift in the Endless Blue—a boundless ocean realm inhabited by mysterious creatures known as the Tomo. No one knows why the Endless Blue exists or why it gathers the remnants of fallen worlds. But at its heart lies the secrets of the Vagari, an ancient civilization long vanished, yet whose influence still lingers beneath the waves. Their truth is waiting to be uncovered. Will you be the one to unravel the secrets they left behind?”
Players will be able to meet the Tomo, which are mysterious companions with their own unique abilities that will help players along the way in combat along with helping them farm, cook, and build. There will be a variety of islands to explore and each island has its own variety of challenges players will face like battles against Tomo Champions, searching for mythical Tomo, and uncovering secrets in the ruins. Players will also be able to construct their own vehicles and contraptions to aid them on their exploration.
Players will have the ability to switch from their character’s point-of-view to their Tomo’s perspective. Along with that, the game will also have a multiplayer mode so that players can join their friends on a local network or a distant server with no limit amount of players for that server. According to the Steam page, the game will also be moddable so players can change all the Tomo characters to something else of their choice.
