Tomb Raider Hires A New Director For Next Installment

According to GameSpot, earlier today Tomb Raider developers at Crystal Dynamics announced that they hired Ian Milham to be the lead game director of the series. With two decades of being in the industry, Ian has been in big projects such as Dead SpaceBattlefield: Hardline, and Visceral gaming’s Star Wars project. With bringing him on board, they have confirmed that more Tomb Raider games are on the way.

Crystal Dynamics said that “[they’re] very excited to welcome Ian as the newest top-tier talent joining our studio. His attitude, aptitude, and aspirations for crafting great game experiences are perfectly aligned with who and what Crystal Dynamics is all about.” Their choice in Ian was a good one since he has been a part of many big and successful projects already. And Ian has been known to enjoy adventure games similar to the Tomb Raider franchise so when he was asked to join the team he simply stated that “[he] had to jump on it.”

As of now, there is no official statement of a next installment, but Square Enix has suggested that there will be a third game which will now have Ian as the director. There is no confirmation yet on when or what this project will be but we can hope to hear soon. For more current news on Tomb RaiderRise of the Tomb Raider will be released in October of this year for PS4. In this version, Playstation VR will be supported and the new Blood Ties Single Player expansion will be released for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
