Three Years Later, 343 Is Still Improving Halo: The Master Chief Collection

Halo: The Master Chief Collection first graced our consoles on November 11, 2014. The game offered the remastered editions of Halo CE and Halo 2, as well as Halo 3, ODST and Halo 4 together on the Xbox One. It also served to revitalize interest in multiplayer for a few of the older titles.

However, following a successful release, the game did face some backlash. Fans complained that the game was buggy, and that matchmaking was slow and unreliable.

343 Industries, the developers behind the collection and the more recent Halo titles, now has an entire team dedicated to maintaining and working on the older games. The Halo Legacy team has been hard at work on the Master Chief Collection and hope to being rolling out some major improvements this year.

The post that revealed the update promised they would be “addressing bugs, updating old systems, adding visual enhancements, improving playlists, and even potentially working in some bona fide new features.”

One of their main focuses will be improving the matchmaking experiences for players. They are working on technical updates that will make matchmaking more reliable across all the games, and streamlining the process across all eight engines that make up the game.
