Dragon Ball FighterZ Sales Reach Over 2 Million Units

Since Dragon Ball FighterZ‘s initial release, there has been much praise for Arc System Works’ attention to detail, mechanics, and general gameplay feel. After Dragon Ball FighterZ was just released in Japan and Asia on February 1, Bandai Namco has announced that the fighting game has sold over 2 million units across the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

These figures make up the amount of units sold physically as well as digital downloads for the game. The beef of these digital downloads comes from Steam, as it is the only way to play the game via PC. Although this is not the first fighting game to be based in the Dragon Ball universe, Dragon Ball FighterZ is currently the fastest selling game set in that universe that has been released.

One of the most impressive feats with Dragon Ball FighterZ that has many fans in awe is the attention to detail to the game’s source material. During certain fight finishers or scenarios, two fighters will re-enact specific scenes from their respective fights in the anime down to the last animation. Most notably are Goku vs Frieza’s finisher, Trunks vs Frieza’s finisher, Teen Gohan vs Perfect Cell’s finisher, and Goku vs Kid Buu’s finisher. Also included are scenes from the Frieza Saga, the Cell Games Saga, and the God of Destruction Beerus Saga.

Fan reception has also been positive with the game, which has added to its popularity. Popular fighting game community personalities have also helped bolster the title’s exposure, with Maximilian Dood creating helpful videos and Leffen streaming his climb to #1 in the world for Dragon Ball FighterZ.

Dragon Ball FighterZ is now available worldwide for the PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
