Three Week Long Concert Series is Coming to Fortnite

Epic has announced the Spotlight Concert Series, a three-week-long in-game event that features top music acts performing on the Fortnite stage. American rapper Dominic Fike will kick-off the series on September 12th, live at 5pm Eastern time, with at 11PM and on Sunday, September 13 at 1PM. The show will be broadcasted from a brand-new state-of-the-art Los Angeles studio space designed for these in-game performances.

Epic plans to make these in-game concert series’ a regular thing, with Nate Nanzer, Fortnite’s head of global partnerships, calling Fortnite a “tour stop.” He describes the benefit of these digital events, saying “It’s unique way to get in front of an audience that maybe you’re not reaching through other means.” Previous headliners include Diplo, Steve Aoki, Deadmau5, and more. Nanzer notes the success of these events, saying “They’ve been performing really well, we’ve seen millions of people come and engage with these different shows that have happened to date in party royale… So we’ve been looking at that and figuring out how we can do this more often.” There has yet to be an announcement regarding the next artist taking part in the concert series, but confirmed dates are September 19th and September 26th.

Those who wish to attend must download Fortnite Party Royale,  available for Android, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The show will emanate from the main stage; the Epic Games website has instructions on how to reach there. They’ve also revealed the return of Tender Defender’s to the Item Shop, encouraging players to wear the gear at the Dominic Fike show as an homage to his hit song “Chicken Tenders”.
