Most of us spend time in search of finding things that bring us back to our childhood; it brings us joy and reminds us of simpler times. Crocodile Dentist, for example, entertained children since the 90s, a perfect table game to pass time. Children would take turns pressing down on each tooth until the plastic crocodile closed its mouth, signifying someone had lost the game. Crocodile Dentist is all in good fun, but what if there was an edge added to this innocent game?
Developer ArtDock has taken these childhood games and turned them on their heads. In Hands Over, players will be happy to know that they can play nostalgic games with friends in a modern way, but there is a twist.
Invite four friends to join you at the table, where players are trapped in a show that is anything but ordinary. Players are forced to play games that once were fun and harmless, but are now deadly. Childhood games are now demented: where you would just lose before, you may lose a limb and your life for here. Instead of a plastic crocodile closing its weak jaw at a wrong move, a bear trap-like jaw will shut its metal teeth on your hand.
The steaks in Hands Over are higher, meaning winning is more meaningful than ever before. Play by the rules if you choose, or play dirty and ensure your survival. Players can trigger chaotic events, turn the entire friend group against someone, and more. Every punishment is unique and is witnessed by everyone sat at the table, available to record and replay for laughs later on amongst each other.
The rules are simple and clear in each trial, but nothing ever feels safe here. Something as simple as a bluff or even a hesitation that went for a second too long can can make you the next target. “One by one, players lose their place at the table. The last one left gets to smile.”
Hands Over is available to add to your Steam wishlist now.
