The Tokyo Game Show 2021 Official Schedule Has Been Revealed

The official schedule for the Tokyo Games Show (TGS) 2021 has been unveiled and it involves some heavy hitters. The usual companies, publishers, and developers will all be present at this year’s event, but there is one major difference this time around. Microsoft, yes major American corporation Microsoft will be at TGS with a special Xbox Tokyo Game Show event. This event is planned for roughly 50 minutes, which is more than likely a part of the company’s attempt at growing the brand in Japan.

This is also especially surprising considering the Xbox’s historically bad performance in the region. All of Microsoft’s home consoles have done well in the video game market, except one place; Japan. Regardless, this might be a serious chance for the company to show off some of their new and upcoming IPs for the Japanese audience, as well as the rest of the world. Another big publisher/developer to take a lot of time will be Square Enix. They’ll be having their own special livestream the following day, and again with a 50-minute time slot. Both companies are promising to share news and updates for all of their upcoming titles.

Other well-known studios that will be appearing include Capcom, Bandai Namco, 505 Games, Tencent, SNK, Spike Chunsoft, Level 5, Sega, and even Konami. For those wondering, Konami is there to promote a brand new Yu-Gi-Oh! title, as it tends to be one of their only yearly releases. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, the TGS 2021 will be entirely online only but is offering new twist. Those with VR-compatible headsets will be able to “visit booths as if you were wandering around inside the gaming world.”

The TGS 2021 will officially commence on September 30 and end on October 3.
