Next PlayStation Showcase Coming Next Week

Today, PlayStation has announced that its next presentation will be coming next week on Thursday, September 9 at 1 pm PDT / 9 pm BST / 10 pm CEST with the PlayStation Showcase 2021. Similar to last year’s PlayStation Showcases, which focused on the PS5 revealing some of the titles coming in the next few years, next week’s Showcase will be a look into the future of PS5.

Over at the PlayStation Blog, Sid Shuman, Senior Director, SIE Content Communications said to “tune in next Thursday, September 9 at 1:00 pm Pacific Time / 9:00 pm BST / 10:00 pm CEST for look into the future of PS5. The Showcase will weigh in at around 40 minutes and include updates from PlayStation Studios and some of the industry’s most imaginative developers, for games releasing this holiday and beyond.” They also said that more updates from some of the studio teams will be revealed after the presentation. PlayStation’s next generation of VR, which was announced earlier this year is not making an experience at this Showcase.

Recently, we’ve gotten updates regarding some of the next, highly anticipated PlayStation titles such as Horizon Forbidden Westthe next game from Naughty Dog, and God of War: Ragnarok. At Gamescom last month, Guerilla Games and PlayStation revealed that Horizon Forbidden West is set to release on February 18, 2021. Today, pre-orders went live for the game which will be available for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Last month, Naughty Dog revealed that they are going full steam ahead with their next project, a standalone multiplayer game as the studio is hiring across multiple disciplines for it.

God of War: Ragnarok was revealed during the second PlayStation Showcase with release date of 2021. It was confirmed earlier this year that the game has a new release window of 2022.  There are a lot of other games that were revealed but we haven’t heard or seen from them since then like Final Fantasy 16. Will they make an appearance at the PlayStation Showcase next week? Only time will tell.
