As the first of its kind, The Sims 4 is set to host a virtual Pride Parade from June 15th to June 29th, as said on their official blog. Along with this Pride Parade, they are also calling to the Sims fanbase to submit their best Sims Pride looks on their social media accounts with the hashtag “#Simspride2020” for the opportunity to be featured in the group picture and The Sims Pride Celebration Event. As talk of fashion show also being featured in the event, EA makes it clear that no custom content will be chosen in the gallery or the picture. As the official announcement starts, they bring their attention to the Black Lives Matter movement as well with the words,
Now more than ever, it’s important to remember that while Pride is a time for celebration, it’s also a moment for reflection and solidarity. All of us are facing difficult, emotional challenges in real life right now. Celebrating Pride might feel complicated as people face the systemic oppression of the Black community head-on and brave the isolation of COVID-19. But none of us are alone.
On June 30th the event will be live-streamed on the official Sims Twitch channel. With the host being Youtuber EnglishSimmer, this will give the community an opportunity to come together and watch their characters flaunt their best outfits (and the newly added MAC makeup looks as well). “Our community is full of wonderful, beautiful people from all over the planet, and The Sims 4 should reflect that—we wouldn’t have it any other way.” The announcement continues.
At the same time during the month of June, The Sims 4 also released a Pride themed plumbob along with promoting LBGTQ+ streamers on their platforms. The release of the plumbob was shortly after popular Drag Queen Trixie Mattel (the winner of All Stars 3) hosted her own drag show on the game as well.
