The Relic: First Guardian Shares New Showcase Trailer for Story and Exploration

“Embark on a heroic fantasy adventure in this unique, Asion-inspired Action RPG” in The Relic: First Guardian developed by Project Cloud Games and published by Perp Games. This style of game is not new for either of these groups, as they have collaborated before to release Rogue Flight (2024), inspired by popular anime series. Recently, the team released a showcase trailer for PlayStation.

This trailer reveals more details about the story structure and other gameplay mechanics. Spanning over twelve minutes, a narrator sets the scene by explaining that players must explore “the traces left behind in this world” and “encounter traces of those who once lived here.” The previous inhabitants of this world are not all heroes, however. In fact, the majority of them seem to be “ordinary people.” Additionally, some story arcs are heavily influenced by “traditional Korean folktales,” though it is assured that Project Cloud Games puts its own twist on the stories covered in The Relic: First Guardian.

From the gameplay trailer, viewers learn that players must fight in order to continue the event, or story, that they are experiencing. The opposite is also true, as the story cannot be skipped, and is an essential mechanic for the game. A former woodcutter’s story is revealed in six chapters to demonstrate the gameplay loop. The chapters are very short, each titled something different, with each being confined to a single wooden slab. During the fifth chapter, viewers are introduced to the Pond of Mighty Greed before progressing to the final chapter and receiving a “Sealing Stone” as a reward for completing the event.

These Sealing Stones allow access to each event’s own dungeon, with countless mysteries to explore. Sometimes, players may come across “remnants of an ancient power called Relic Energy.” Using this is essential for character evolution, unlocking more events and areas to explore. The production team behind The Relic: First Guardian intends to have another showcase before the game’s release on July 31, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Steam users. Thie current showcase trailer is available to view below from the official PlayStation YouTube channel.
