Following the report and then the confirmation from Rockstar Games that the next Grand Theft Auto title will be revealed in early December, today, Rockstar went a step further and revealed the date and time for the first official trailer for the next GTA, Tuesday, December 5 at 9 am ET.
While Rockstar does stay quiet about its titles, that hasn’t been the case with the next Grand Theft Auto. Reports suggest that the game will feature a female protagonist for the first time in franchise history alongside a male protagonist that are heavily influenced by Bonnie and Clyde. The report also revealed that the game will be going back to Vice City, a fictionalized version of Miami, Florida.
Numerous leaked videos made their way online showing snippets of gameplay. The leaks seemingly confirmed the game’s setting with multiple instances of the words Vice City appearing in some of the clips such as a character on the Vice City Metro.
The leaks also revealed that Rockstar is bringing in Red Dead Redemption II’s conversation system that allows players to interact with any NPC. Gameplay footage showed a robbery in progress with a playable female character named Lucia robbing a restaurant and taking hostages. Eventually, she and her male accomplice get into a shootout with police before jumping into a car and driving off.
As for when the next GTA gets released, reports and rumors suggest that it might get released as early as next year. We will most likely know of a release window on December 5 when the first trailer releases.
This will not be the only GTA-related thing getting released this year. Following reports of a potential partnership, Netflix recently revealed that Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition will be coming to the platform on December 14 giving Netflix members the opportunity to place enhanced versions of GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas.
