Back at E3 2018, spectators were left in awe after seeing gameplay of The Last of Us Part II. With such a great display of improvements on a game that was already way ahead of its time, it left fans begging for more. 2020 is lurking closer and closer now and news about the title has been quiet for some time. Fortunately, some lucky attendees at a GameStop Managers Conference were able to see some brand new footage of the game leaving fans hopeful that the footage and possibly more will go public very soon.
The footage that was shown at the conference was referenced by a twitter user Gaming Forte. He mentioned that the clip was short but sweet. It gave a glimpse at Ellie using more stealth mechanics similar to the E3 gameplay trailer, but this time using “Clickers” to her advantage. If unaware, Clickers are a popular enemy in the game that can’t see but have great hearing abilities. As they search for prey they make an eerie clicking sound hence their name.
It is unclear when the new footage will be displayed but some speculate it will be during an event on September 26 called Outbreak Day, as it serves as an anniversary for the Last of Us universe. Although, this has yet to be confirmed by Sony or Naughty Dog. New gameplay footage for The Last of Us II is always exciting news as the game is looking to expand on its highly labored combat along with its fluid realistic animations. In the original, taking a gunshot or a beating from another player felt real as you watched your character show their reaction to it. In the trailer for Part II, we saw this evolve even more when Ellie slowly pulled the arrow out of her shoulder as she hid in cover from a group of bandits. Naughty Dog has said ailments such as an arrow in your body are just one of the extra things that your character will have to endure in the new game.
Sony fans have been waiting patiently with little complaints because they know Naughty Dog will deliver a quality game in the long run. Some new updates on the title are due more or less and probably not far away though. Pax West is just around the corner as well giving players hope more news on the title will be dropped there. If that doesn’t happen, Outbreak Day would be the next best bet for some news on the anticipated title. For more updates in the coming weeks on The Last of Us II, stay connected to MXDWN Games.
