The Last of Us: Part II is one of the most anticipated PlayStation exclusives to date. Since it’s initial reveal at PlayStation Experience 2016, fans have been flocking to every bit of information that Naughty Dog will spare. As of right now, it seems we are far off from getting any new details about the game due in part to Sony keeping pretty quiet this year.
They didn’t have a PlaysStation Experience at the end of 2018 and aren’t coming to E3 this year, so no one can guess where the game currently is in development or when and where we can get another peek at it. As disappointing as this may be to many fans, there has been some good news to come out of this stint of silence.
Developer Naughty Dog has revealed a slight bit of information about where the game is it’s development cycle. Recently, Creative Director Neil Druckmann shared an image stating Laura Bailey has finished her shooting schedule on the project. This came just days after this Druckmann also tweeted an image of the last page of the game’s script that simply says “Cut to black. The end.”
This announcement seems to show that the development team has finished an important step towards finishing the game. Although, it is a notable point this may not mean that the game is close to being finished and could very well still be in development for quite some time. Recently, a satirical website wrote a joke about the sequel releasing this year, but the developers quickly ended those rumors. The game as of now doesn’t have a release window, but we do know that it is slated to release on the PlayStation 4. Naughty Dog’s only comment is that they will “be ready to show new things when they’re ready.”
