During Bethesda’s Game Days stream at PAX East 2019, a special celebration panel of the 25th anniversary of The Elder Scrolls was held. During the panel, Todd Howard confirmed that The Elder Scrolls VI and Starfield will not be at E3 2019. Howard would say “before anyone asks, please be patient. It’s going to be a long time. It’s not something we’re going to be talking about at E3, either of those games, this year. Patience, please.”
Another thing that came out of the panel was the news that Shirley Curry, an 82-year-old grandmother and YouTuber, will be added to the next Elder Scrolls game. The announcement came during a special video celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Elder Scrolls series.
Shirley Curry tweeted out a message and video after learning that the announcement of her inclusion to the game was made. Fans had been campaigning for her to be in the game for a while and Bethesda was able to make it happen.
The video also provided a sneak peek to the technology they plan to use for the game. Bethesda explained that they are using photogrammetry technology which is able to take scans of objects and translate them into a highly detailed 3D model. This will also be used for the environments and characters in the game.
Both Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI were announced during E3 2018. All that is really known about them is that they will be “next-gen” titles. Starfield and The Elder Scrolls VI won’t be the only ones not a part of E3 2019. Recently, EA announced that they will not have press conference this year, but they will still have EA Play. Last year, PlayStation announced that it would be skipping E3 2019 altogether.
