The Destroy All Humans! franchise first launched on Playstation, Xbox and Nintendo consoles back in 2005, with number of sequels and spin-offs following the original. Developed by THQ Nordic, the creators of the Darksiders series, Destroy All Humans! is an action-adventure game designed to be a parody of “Cold War-era alien invasion” films. According to a description of the story, players control Crypto the alien as he invades the Earth to harvest human brain stems in order to protect the Furon species. A description of the overall objective of the game is also offered, “to accomplish his mission, he must battle US forces, infiltrate and sabotage secret government facilities and defeat Majestic, a shadowy government organization led by a black-clad figure named Silhouette.”
The new Destroy All Humans! remake will not only be arriving with updated graphics but will also include new “lost missions” not included in the original. Evidenced by a new “Lost Mission” trailer, the remake will include a level that was cut from development prior to the game’s release, with redesigned art and gameplay. Titled “The Wrong Stuff,” the mission shows Crypto’s human enemies attempting to reverse engineer his alien technology in order to create flying saucers of their own. Crypto will need to infiltrate the Area 41 military base in order to figure out what exactly the humans have done with his technology. This mission was mentioned in the original’s story but was eventually cut from the final version of the game’s story.
The additional content hopefully shows THQ Nordic’s willingness to add and release content for their games, so future content may come in possible future updates. The Destroy All Humans! remaster will be releasing on July 28th for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation consoles. Pre-order information, along with details for the special collector’s editions, can be found on the official pre-order page.
