Fans of the classic XCOM series went bananas when 2K’s long in development XCOM game (The Bureau) was revealed to be a FPS reboot in the style of Bioshock, and understandably so. Turning a beloved turn based strategy game into yet another FPS is like re-branding a rueben on rye as chocolate. Sure, more people like chocolate but sometimes you just really want some cold beef and nasty fermented cabbage.
Fortunately, Firaxis saved the day by releasing the glorious X-COM: Enemy Unkown (definitely a rueben) first, allowing The Bureau, now re-rebooted as 3rd person shooter with a heavy emphasis on squad tactics, to step out of its predecessor’s shadows and become something new.
