As promised in yesterday’s Tekken 8 trailer today Bandai Namco have dropped another trailer, this one exclusively featuring a brand new character to the series: Victor Chevalier, a French fighter armed with a handgun, a karambit knife, and a katana voiced by legendary actor Vincent Cassel.
The trailer also features a brand new stage: a beautiful yacht in the middle of the river Seine with France’s iconic Eiffel Tower overlooking the two players as they duke it out at sundown to a techno stage theme as Vincent Cassel narrates how he’s going to easily beat his opponent.

As for Victor himself, his moveset is definitely one that hasn’t been seen before in Tekken. While other fighters such as Yoshimitsu and Raven have used knives and swords before, and some even using guns, Victor’s moveset blends them all together in a way that seems almost John Wick inspired, peppering handgun shots between kicks and dagger swipes.
The elephant in the room regarding Victor’s moveset and design is, obviously, his high-tech katana. A giant piece of metal strapped to his side that lets him teleport and zip around the battlefield. It looks a bit out of place for his design, and many fans have already noted that that entire part of Victor’s kit seem to be a direct homage to Noctis, a guest character in Tekken 7 from Final Fantasy XV.
Still, in a roster full of returning faces it’s good to see another new character take a slot. Rumors are abound that the reveal trailer coming this November 13th will also be a new character, this one being a legacy slot to replace Tekken icon Heihachi Mishima who died in Tekken 7, but those are just rumors and we have nothing substantial to go on just yet.
Keep an ear to the ground as the 13th approaches and stay tuned for one more reveal before Bandai Namco releases Tekken 8 next year on January 26th, 2024 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
