Tactical RPG ‘Expeditions: Viking’ Announced

Danish indie developer Logic Artists have announced the sequel to their well regarded Expeditions: Conquistador. Titled Expeditions: Viking, the game takes players way back to the late 700s AD, putting them in charge of a clan of vikings.

A tactical RPG, Viking builds upon the formula laid down by its predecessor while beefing it up with new features requested by fans. These include an upgradable player village, which serves as a home base for expeditionary forces to return to and defend, seamless blending of over-land travel and combat, and a visually represented avatar that exists in travel and combat, in addition to conversations and decision making moments.

In a statement to the press,  Creative Director Jonas Wæver said:

We are very excited to return to our roots in the RPG genre, and as developers from the Nordic region, to make a game in a setting that is a lot closer to home than anything we’ve done before. We’re improving on the Conquistador formula with deeper and more dynamic systems for character progression, combat abilities, role-playing, choice and consequence, and expanding on our favorite part of Conquistador: camping and wilderness survival.

The game will be out sometime in 2016.
