What many video game fans would consider a dream team up is actually happening. In a live stream hosted by IGN Japan, Goichi “Suda51” Suda, the mind behind such hits as killer7 and the No More Heroes franchise, and Hidetaka “Swery65” Suehiro, the mind behind the cult hit Deadly Premonition, announced they have come together to work on a brand new horror game.
During the stream, Suda51 and Swery65 discussed how they have been trying to come together to work on a game since last year. However, the pair said they’d end up forgetting what ideas they came up with after meeting up. Apparently, the duo were working on a PlayStation VR together, but, unfortunately, that game ended up being canceled. Now, the duo have a new idea; a new horror game with the working title “Hotel Barcelona.”
The stream had the two developers spitballing ideas on what the game would exactly be. The pair discussed having the player character be evil and the game featuring different timelines. They would also mention possible platforms the game could appear on including Google Stadia, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices. They have even had apparent discussions with publisher Devolver Digital to publish and fund the game with around a $1 million dollar budget. However, Devolver would tweet out that the duo should “pitch us the mysterious game.”
Gonna need @SUDA_51 and @Swery65 to pitch us this mysterious game we’re supposedly publishing.
Name a time and place, gentlemen. https://t.co/duvQWVj1CO

While “Hotel Barcelona” is still a currently in the early planning stages, both Sweary65 and Suda51 are working on their own Nintendo Switch exclusive projects that are set to release next year at the moment. Suda51 is currently working on No More Heroes III which was announced during Nintendo’s E3 Nintendo Direct earlier this year. Swery65, on the other hand, is working on Deadly Premonition 2 which was surprisingly announced during last month’s Nintendo Direct.
