Super Flappy Golf Opens Pre-Registration with New Collectible Birdies

Noodlecake Studios, the publisher behind popular games like Alto’s Adventure and Alto’s Odyssey, Lumino City, and Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy, is a Canadian indie game development and publishing company based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The company prides itself on highlighting smaller indie games, that might otherwise fall through the cracks. Noodlecake Studios first announced Super Flappy Golf’s creation on October 30, 2023, through a blog post on the company’s official website.

Super Flappy Golf is set to be the latest iteration of the hit Flappy Golf series, a mobile game franchise that blends the physics-based mechanics of the Super Stickman Golf series with the one-tap mechanics of Flappy BirdSuper Flappy Golf will showcase a total of 30 unique courses, multiplayer modes allowing competitions with up to eight friends, millions of possible collectible birdies, and brand-new glide and dive mechanics.

Noodlecake Studios’ official website encourages potential players to “flap [their] way to the green in this highly anticipated follow up to the viral Flappy Golf series.” The game’s “simple two-button controls” are designed to be easily understood by all players, regardless of skill level. Once immersed in the game, players can then “collect Birdie traits with different rarities to hatch stylish and sometimes crazy birdies.”

Noodlecake Studios recently opened up pre-registration for Super Flappy Golf on mobile app stores. The company shared the good news on January 3o, via a post on their official X (formerly Twitter) account. The post celebrates that after nine years of wait, Flappy Gold has finally returned to mobile devices. It shares that pre-registration is now live and showcases a brief advertisement. In the included video, a boy happens to look out a window and notice a cheerful yellow birdie. It then cuts to a montage of clips that showcase the game’s newer elements and improved graphics.

As of now, Noodlecake Studios has not revealed an official a release date for Super Flappy Golf. The game’s Apple app store description lists March 27 as the expected release date, although this is subject to change. Anyone interested in playing Super Flappy Golf can pre-register for the free on both iOS and Android devices.

I am captivated by video games and how they function as a story telling medium. Mobile games, specifically, are increasingly complex forms of entertainment that can be played on the go. While many video games are available only to those who can afford expensive consoles and computers, mobile games are designed for the average person.
