The popular mobile game Among Us was released in 2018 and rose to fame during the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown. Players can choose to enter a private or public lobby, with one to three imposters and four to fifteen Crewmates per game. Despite this popularity, Innersloth cancelled their plans for a sequel in 2020, preferring to focus their efforts on the original game.
During the 2026 Summer Games Fest though, Innersloth unveiled a trailer for Among Us Story: On Board. This is, not, however, the cancelled sequel. Instead, On Board is a brief, standalone narrative based RPG set in the Among Us universe, and is planned to be single player only.
Assuming the role of a new team member for MIRA Research and Development, players must climb the ranks to become guard. the MIRA acronym describes the game’s central mechanics, with M standing for “Meet the Among Us universe in a whole new way”, I for “Identify the imposter”, R for “Reap the rewards of your investigation”, and A for “And complete tasks.” The trailer teases multiple updated environment maps, including the cafeteria, kitchen, office spaces, and hallways. Depending on player choice and skill, On Board does have several different endings, though the details are not yet revealed.
Unlike the original, Innersloth does not currently have plans for Among Us Story: On Board to be a mobile game. They do note that this could change in the future, but for now, the studio only has plans for release on PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. As part of an anniversary celebration, beta testing is set to launch on June 15, 2026, and will wrap up on June 22, with details arriving via social media.
