Stuntman Hollywood Announced at State of Play

Dangerous stunts have been a staple of action movies since they could be performed and captured. The incredible amount of action involved in vehicle stunts is right at home in a video game format. Stuntmant Hollywood, announced halfway through the PlayStation State of Play, exemplifies this idea by centering its premise on speed and these impossible stunts. Developed by Saber Interactive, the new game in the series iterates on the formula of the previous games by focusing on stunts performed for movies, with all of the risks and destruction that come with such a task.

The trailer is an action-packed combination of various scenes of movies. The very first scene is a classic failed race against a train that culminates in the driver jumping the tall cars. From there, countless other tricks are performed, from darting between and passing swarms of other cars to drifting around massive moving vehicles, causing countless explosions in the process. The speed of the vehicles is also on display, with the tense music accompanied by the sounds of revving engines.

One of the stunts given the greatest amount of attention is the aftermath of the time traveling in Back to the Future, featuring the iconic accompanying track. It and other examples such as scenes from Miami Vice and Knight Rider give the game a unique feel compared to the previous entries in the series. The tension of the insane stunts is finally relieved as the driver exits the vehicle and confirms a successful take with the cameraman.

The trailer ends with one final montage of all the different stunts and vehicles seen to be in the game so far. Stuntman Hollywood is set to continue the Stuntman series onto the PlayStation 5. While no release date has been given yet, the trailer does confirm that the release date is coming soon.
