Street Fighter V: Urien Trailer and Character Details Revealed

Capcom has announced details about and released trailer for the newest DLC character for Street Fighter V; Urien, “The Dominating Light.” Urien was first introduced into the franchise in Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact. He is the vice president of Illuminati. His ultimate goal is to overtake his colorful older brother Gil in order to have full control of Illuminati and to destroy Shadaloo, the organization headed by M. Bison. As a character, Urien is known for being sadistic and tyrannical. Urien will be wearing a pin striped suit as a costume in Street Fighter V. As a fighter he is incredibly powerful, being able to land violent combos. He is a master of ki manipulation which he achieves through slow moving projectiles. His signature “Aegis Reflector”, one of the 66 Illuminati secret arts, is making a return for this iteration of the character and allows Urien to dictate the pace of the match. Urien will also play a role in the free DLC story, “A Shadow Falls”, which we previously mentioned in our Juri trailer article. The release date for Urien as well as announcements for the September update will be revealed during Tokyo Games Show 2016. Below is a trailer for Urien and a breakdown of his V-Skill, V-Trigger, and Critical Art.

V-Skill: Metallic Aura

Urien completely covers his body with his “Metallic Aura”, while letting out villainous laughter. When built up and released, Urien’s skin becomes darker and his next special move can, for a short period of time, absorb one attack.

V-Trigger: Aegis Reflector

Urien spreads his arms apart and releases a barrier. The barrier reflects projectiles back at the opponent and the direction that is held when the barrier is released will determine where it appears. If the opponent does not block while touching the barrier, they will take damage and be knocked backwards. If Urien has a full V-Meter, he can release two barriers.

Critical Art: Dominate Crush

Urien builds up his energy, hits the ground, and releases all of his built up energy into one large pillar like blast.

Carlos Barragan: likes video games. He likes them so much, in fact, that he writes about them. He likes other stuff too.
