On December 5, 2024 — During the PC Gaming Show, Strange Scaffold and Paramount Game Studios unveiled a groundbreaking addition to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles universe: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown. This innovative title marks the franchise’s first foray into the turn-based tactics genre, blending cerebral strategy with the high-flying action that TMNT fans have come to love.
Developed by Strange Scaffold, known for critically acclaimed titles such as El Paso, Elsewhere, and Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator, this kinetic turn-based beat-em-up brings the iconic Turtles to life like never before. Players will command Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo as they battle the notorious Foot Clan and face a mysterious new villain. With dynamic, mutating levels spanning rooftops, sewers, and beyond, the game promises a fresh perspective on TMNT’s beloved world.
Each Turtle features a dedicated mini-campaign, boasting unique movesets and powerful super moves to outwit opponents in fast-paced, strategic encounters. Designed for quick yet meaningful play sessions, battles are short but impactful, leading to a climactic finale where the brothers must unite against an overwhelming evil.
Xalavier Nelson Jr., founder of Strange Scaffold, expressed excitement about delivering a bold new vision for TMNT fans. “Building a compelling licensed game requires a deep respect for the source material, love for the fans, and a willingness to challenge tentpoles of the universe to create something that both surprises and delights,” said Nelson Jr. “I get to make a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game where the very first lines of dialogue establish that Shredder and Splinter are dead. Who else can say that?“
Doug Rosen, Senior Vice President of Games & Emerging Media at Paramount, praised Strange Scaffold’s innovative approach to the franchise. “From our first conversation, it was clear Xalavier’s vision for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown would exceed our expectations,” said Rosen. “His approach to bringing fans into the creative process is perfect for a beloved, multi-generational brand like TMNT. We’re thrilled to share this experience with gamers everywhere next year.“
The announcement trailer here shows the game’s vibrant visuals and dynamic gameplay. Fans of the franchise and strategy enthusiasts alike can look forward to a new way of experiencing TMNT when the game launches in 2025 on PC through Steam.
