Steam Now Offers Game Trials, Dead Space 90 Minute Trial Now Available

Those who traverse through the seemingly endless Steam library on PC, we have some excellent news for you. Valve allow developers and publishers to offer players the chance to try their title out with a game trial. This is different than a demo or a beta, as you’ll be able to play the fully released game for a specific amount of time. EA and EA Motive Studios are the first to jump on this new feature as a Dead Space Remake trial is now available to download and play right now. The best part? The trial is 90 minutes long.

As of this writing, only the Dead Space Remake has the only game trial active on the Steam platform. With such a massive AAA title taking the initiative with this new feature, it’s very likely that more company’s will offer their own trials for some of their new IP’s. As for being the first title on Steam with a trial, it’s hard to get better than the Dead Space Remake. It’s already considered one of the best title’s of 2023, and is also one of the best remakes we’ve seen in recent years. Allowing players to jump right into the game for an insane amount of time at 90 minutes is a bold move on EA’s parts. This is especially evident as the player is not required to even buy the game when the trial is over and done with.

Valve has meddled with this type of service in the past, most famously with the Steam Refunds. This allows anyone who has purchased title on the Steam platform to request a refund as long as it has been within 14 days of being purchased and has been logged with under two hours of play time. This service was initially brought about in 2015 after the PC port of one of the most anticipated titles of that year, Batman: Arkham Knight, was released in such a poor state that the game was literally unplayable. In fact, only in 2022 has the game actually been considered playable to an extent. Either way you extrapolate it, these new game trial features will potentially make it a much easier experience for those who want to see if the title will play on their PC.
