Steam Launches Exploration Sale

Thanksgiving is upon us, and cash-strapped PC gamers have reason to be thankful to Valve, who have thrown a discount extravaganza across Steam.

Titled the Exploration Sale, the store-wide sale covers a myriad of games- 5666 of them, to be precise. As befits the title, the Exploration Sale places particular emphasis on games set in weird and wonderful new lands, so it some of the heaviest discounts have been given to games like Bioshock Infinite ($7.49), Kerbal Space Program ($17.99), and Rome II: Total War ($14.98).

Curiously, the sale also includes some games that have only recently been released, such as Civilization: Beyond Earth, which is selling at a 30% discount for $34.99, The Evil Within, released last October, which is selling for 66% off at $20.39.

Unlike previous Steam Sales, the Exploration Sale does not have flash sales that crop up every now and then; instead, most games are on sale for a duration of 24 to 48 hours. The sale will conclude on December 2.

Word of the Exploration Sale got out a few days ago when Paypal began sending out emails notifying its customers to “stock up on Steam Wallet Codes from the PayPal Digital Gift Store.”
