Steam Games Festival: Autumn Edition Starts Today

Hosted entirely on Steam, the Autumn Edition Festival is set to start today (Wednesday 10/7). This event is set to take place from October 7th to October 13th and will let players freely play different demos of newly released and upcoming games.  As this is the fourth Games Festival since December, the format is mostly the same.

The autumn event is based around showing demos for games that have a release date between now and May 1st, 2020. Along with being able to play demos, players will also get the chance to connect with different developers for a select number of games (although a list and a schedule hasn’t been revealed just yet). A compiled list of games has also not been released either, but Steam said they will notify players once the event’s started.

One of the biggest highlights from this festival seems to be a game titled Source of Madness, which is exclusively available on PC only. As the Steam description for it goes, “Source of Madness takes place in an alternative reality where the world did not go through the dark ages of enlightenment, where magic and the monsters of Lovecraft exist or rather allow you to exist.” With this description, the game page also highlights the ability to let the player choose which path they want to take by choosing their own class (such as fighters, wizards, etc). The official release date for Source of Madness. is at an unspecified date in 2021.

Even though there are many other titles set to be revealed at the games festival Source of Madness seems to be the only confirmed one so far. Other Steam Game Festivals are tentatively planned around February 2021 and June 2021 as they seem to be a more common occurrence due to pandemic restrictions.
