Lately, Square Enix has been making a point to bring tri-Ace’s sci-fi JRPG series, Star Ocean, back into the spotlight. In particular, they’ve been showing off trailers for every playable character in the fifth and latest Star Ocean entry, Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness. Today marks an important day for Integrity and Faithlessness, since Square Enix just revealed a trailer for the game featuring its English voice acting cast, as well as its theme song, “Astra Nova,” by Japanese rock band androp.
Star Ocean 5 chronologically takes place between the second and third games in the series follows the story of Fidel Camuze, his childhood friend Miki Sauvester, and a mysterious young girl named Relia, who all live on the distant planet of Faykreed. The three are unwillingly drawn into a battle that will change the fate of the planet forever, and it’s up to the young band of adventurers to bring peace back to the troubled planet of Faykreed.
Notably, Akira “akiman” Yasuda, of Capcom fame, will be designing the characters.
In addition, Star Ocean 5 focuses on flexibility both in and out of combat. Players will be able to effortlessly switch between their 8 characters in the midst of combat, and your attacks will change depending on your proximity to the enemy. Transitions between combat, cutscenes, and overworld exploration touted to be seamless as well, making for a fluid gameplay experience.
Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness is set to release on February 25, 2016, in Japan. It will release for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, though only Japan will be receiving the PS3 version of the game. The West will be receiving the game some time in 2016, though no hard date has yet been announced.
