Spiritfarer Weaves Together Stunning Visuals With A Beautiful & Emotional Story About Saying Goodbye

Thunder Lotus Games revealed the announcement trailer for their newest project, Spiritfarer, during this year’s Xbox E3 2019 Briefing. The title will be the third production by the studio, following Jotun and Sundered. The team describes their upcoming game as “a cozy management game about dying.” While the premise may sound sad or morbid, it actually appears to take on a more cheerful and uplifting approach. After viewing the trailer, Spiritfarer seems to focus more on the special moments and memories shared between friends, before the eventuality of saying goodbye and letting go.

For those who missed its world premiere during the E3 Microsoft Press Conference, the official Spiritfarer announcement trailer can be viewed below.

Sail the seas with Stella, a young ferrymaster tasked with ensuring safe passage for the deceased into the afterlife. Mine, fish, and farm for resources needed to build, upgrade, and customize Stella’s boathouse along the voyage. Spend quality time getting to know your passengers. Learn about who they are, listen to their stories, craft them gifts, help them with quests, and create lasting memories before releasing them into the world beyond. Players may also try out the optional two-player co-op gameplay, allowing Stella’s cat, Daffodil, to join in on the adventure.

Spiritfarer will be playable on a wide variety of consoles, including Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC (Windows, Mac, and Linux), and the Nintendo Switch. Players can also expect the game to also release for the Xbox Game Pass, both on Console and PC. The studio is currently planning on launching the game sometime in 2020, although the time of year is currently unknown. Further details are expected to be revealed in the coming months.
