Slitherine Announces Warhammer 40,000: Sanctus Reach

Warhammer has another game in the works, making that the forty-forth game this year. No, that’s not true, but you probably had to check, which says a lot. Warhammer 40,000: Sanctus Reach is being released for Steam this year.

The game is the first game ever of Scottish developer Straylight Entertainment.  In it, you are in control of the Space Wolves, a prominent Space Marine Legion. Here is the official statement released about the game:

Warhammer 40,000: Sanctus Reach brings you to a dark era of carnage and endless war. There is no peace among the stars: the Imperium of Man is beset on all sides by all kinds of threats. Among them is the Orks, a barbaric and warlike xeno race. One of their fiercest leaders, Grukk Face-Rippa, leads his Red Waaagh! in the Sanctus Reach system. Worlds after worlds fall to billions of Orks, until only one last planet resists the green tide: the Knight World of Alaric Prime. This is where a brave company of Space Wolves makes its stand to defend the last bastion of mankind in the system…

First off, Warhammer’s Ork names are still the creme de la creme of fictional character names. If you need more proof, Grukk FaceRippa’s partner in crime is named Mogrok da Mangla. Just dandy.

On the other hand, you will get to know Krom Dragongaze, Ragnar Blackmane, and the High King of Fenris in turn-based strategy. The game will feature two campaigns, skirmish mode, map generator, and of course, multiplayer. Straylight Entertainment has also stated that your units will level up through combat experience and unlock new abilities. Same with the table top game, you will have to pick your army under the constrictions of a point system.

All said, Sanctus Reach will be released by the end of year. If you’re looking for something to tide you over, publisher Slitherine for Sanctus Reach released Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon along the same lines. And of course, Total War: Warhammer is out on PC now. There’s never been a better time to get your WAAGH on.
