‘Skylanders Trap Team’ To Get New Gameplay Mode

The latest entry to Activision’s hugely popular kid-friendly franchise, Skylanders: Trap Team, will be getting a brand new wave-based gameplay mode, the Kaos Doom Challenge.

The announcement comes in the form of a press release seemingly made by the game’s antagonist himself, Emperor Kaos. “Attention, foolish human fools! Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATVI), is officially announcing an all new diabolical gameplay mode in honor of me, Emperor Kaos, the most infamously evil villain in all of Skylands!” the announcement reads, as even the mighty Kaos shows good decorum to his masters at Activision, “In my glorious “Kaos Doom Challenge,” sniveling Portal Masters like you can feebly battle through increasingly difficult waves of my personal minions using your ridiculous army of Skylanders.”

This wave based mode, an increasingly popular staple in many games featuring cooperative multiplayer, has players and their Skylanders fending off up to a hundred waves of foes. Failure to successfully defeat a wave will cause a creatively titled “Mystery Box of Doom” to descend onto the battlefield, unleashing a plethora of even more menacing creatures to fight.

Players have the ability to construct defensive towers to hold off the attacks, as well as do battle with their entire Skylanders collection, including villain creatures who have been trapped during the main campaign. All of this apparently being an act of mercy from Kaos, who is confident that any player attempting this mode will face total annihilation.

The Kaos Doom Challenge is sure to add a great deal of replayability to Skylanders Trap Team, which will be making its way to North America, Europe and Australia on October 5, 10 and 2 respectively.
