In somewhat unsurprising fashion, EA has once again disappointed fans with the announcement that Skate 4 will not be appearing at the EA Play event. We first heard about the next Skate game back in June 2020 when a short teaser trailer was revealed without much other information. Since then, news on the game has been light, but fans of the series are still excited for the first new Skate game in over ten years. After Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2, not a lot of skateboarding games have hit the market, but with such a huge publisher behind the IP, expectations are high for the next game in EA’s Skate legacy.

Hopefully, skipping the event will give the relatively new team plenty of time to make sure that the game lives up to the hype. However, the developers have also stated that there will be a “little something” to share on the way. Maybe Skate fans won’t have to wait as long as they think for some new information? Or maybe the studio has some other games in development! Either way, fans should keep an eye out for information coming out of Full Circle, the dev team now working on Skate 4 under EA.
Skate isn’t the only game we won’t be seeing at EA’s next event. It’s also been confirmed by EA Star Wars that there will be no new Star Wars games to check out during EA Play either. Despite the developers of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order getting to work on a sequel to the hard-as-nails Jedi simulator, EA will not be revealing any new information or footage from any Star Wars properties at EA Play. Fans of the franchise will have to tide themselves over with the next-gen updates coming to Jedi: Fallen Order in the next couple of months.
So, what can gamers expect from EA’s event? Well, rumors abound about a remake of the horror classic Dead Space appearing at the event, and there’s been no word on whether or not we’ll see Battlefield 2042, so keep a close eye out for either of these titles. EA Play 2021 will take place July 22nd at 9:30 am PDT.
