Looks like another AAA title is getting the next-gen treatment. Announced on the official Star Wars website, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be receiving an upgrade for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/Series S this Summer. According to the post, this is both a next-gen release and an upgrade, which will be completely free for current owners of the game on their respective systems. It’s also important to note that this is not the same as the optimization update that the game got back in January which gave the gamers the option to bump the frames up to 60.

Unfortunately, the post is fairly vague when it comes to the specifics of what the next-gen updates will bring to the title. If it’s anything like its contemporaries, the upgrade will most likely bring improved visuals, an even higher framerate spec, potential for ray tracing, and other technical facets. The post did state that there will be more information “coming soon” so hopefully they, or Respawn Entertainment themselves, will have more for us in the coming weeks or months.
The Star Wars post also mentioned that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is on sale for up to 70% off its standard retail price across numerous platforms. This sale will end on May 12, so if you’re interested in the upcoming next-gen upgrade then this is arguably the best time to grab the game beforehand. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order originally launched in November 2019, and was critically acclaimed upon release with some calling it one of the best Star Wars titles in recent years. It also achieved a major milestone, becoming the fastest-selling digital launch title in franchise history.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC through Steam, Origin, and the Epic Game Store. The next-gen update will launch sometime later this Summer.
