SINoAlice x NieR: Replicant Game Releases Globally for Mobile Until August 21st with Future of Localization

The collaboration between SINoAlice and NieR: RepliCant has finally become a reality today. Developed by Square Enix and published by PokeLabo, SINoALICE is available for iOS and Android devices until August 21st. Such characters also include Kaine, Emil, Devola and Popula (from NieR: RepliCant) and Young and Boy Nier from the SINoALICE series. If interested, more information about the game can be found on the App Store and Google Play.

This was, however, not the case a month ago. In an interview done by Toucharcade, there was little to believe whether there would be a collaboration between SINoALICE and NieR: RepliCant. Japanese video game director and creator of the NieR series Yoko Taro mentioned that an official collaboration is “up to the higher-ups, so I don’t know. Once “they” decide something would make money, they have a strong will to make any collaboration happen. The thing is, the producers of SINoALICE and Reincarnation are different people, so the fate would be decided once they start a fight to the death, and one of them wins (this sort of thing happens quite often at Square Enix).”

Though the collaboration between the two games became a reality, the question of whether the developers will continue localizing their games worldwide remains unclear. SINoALICE and NieR: RepliCant is available until August 21st; however, depending on fan response and engagement with this new game, Square Enix may continue to localize their games to the West. PokeLabo’s Producer Shogo Maeda believes “the Japanese mobile game market has reached its limit and there’s not much possibility for it to grow further. Globally, I think the mobile game market will be stimulated further in the future, so it’ll be crucial to build games with the global market in mind.” – stated in an interview with Toucharcade
