Following this past weekend’s Pokémon Go Community Day featuring Ralts, Niantic has announced some details for the next Community Day, which will occur on Sunday, September 15. The announcement arrived earlier on Twitter, along with a brief video.
September’s Community Day will feature Turtwig, the Grass-type starter Pokémon from the Gen 4 main series games, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, which launched on the Nintendo DS back in 2006. Typically on Community Days, the featured Pokémon spawns more frequently during a set time period—sometimes even in its Shiny form, which Turtwig reportedly will—and can learn a unique move if it evolves within that same time period. Niantic hasn’t yet announced what special move Turtwig will learn when evolved into Grotle, then Torterra, during the event, but this time around, the Community Day will take place from 11 AM to 2 PM local time, much earlier than the past couple Community Days, which took place from 4 to 7 PM local time.
There are generally additional bonuses offered in Pokémon Go during Community Day hours outside of the featured Pokémon. So far, Niantic has revealed that Lure Modules will last three hours rather than 30 minutes, and players will earn three times as much Stardust when they catch Pokémon.
While there are more details that have yet to be revealed, there are plenty of exciting things happening in Pokémon Go in the meantime. Rayquaza is back and available in five-star Raid battles until September 2, 2019, and may appear in its Shiny form for some lucky players. There’s a massive Team GO Rocket event underway in the game currently, in which Team GO Rocket grunts will appear at PokéStops and take them over for certain periods of time. Players can battle the grunts and capture one of their Shadow Pokémon to purify. Lastly, the game’s third Global Challenge of the summer is currently happening, in which players around the world must complete as many research tasks as they can to unlock bonuses for their team.
