In celebration of Sonic’s 30th anniversary, Sega held their first-ever Sonic Central live stream which announced the future of their beloved mascot. There were a number of smaller easter eggs announced alongside a couple of bigger games which are expected to roll out over the next couple of years.
One of the first things to come out of the live stream was more of an easter egg. Players will be able to play Sonic the Fighters in Lost Judgement by going into the Club Sega arcades. Lost Judgement will come out on various consoles on September 24. Another small announcement was that players in Olympic Games Tokyo 2020: The Official Video Game will be able to compete in Olympic games donning a full Sonic costume.
The biggest reveal of today was a trailer released for the upcoming Sonic Colors: Ultimate, which is a remake of the 2010 game, Sonic Colors. This remastered version includes additional content as well as an animated series that is being released alongside it, Sonic Colors: Rise of the Wisp, which can be streamed this summer. Sonic Colors: Ultimate will be released on September 7 on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It is also available to preorder here which will include the game alongside other bonus goodies like an exclusive baby Sonic keychain.
Sega has also confirmed that they are working on Sonic Origins which is a collection of older Sonic games. It is expected to come out in 2022 and includes Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Sonic & Knuckles, and Sonic CD.
There is also another Sonic game announced that, as of now, has no title. All we know is that it will be released in 2022 on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
